Story

One Last Challenge for Herts Inclusive Theatre

After 18 incredible years with Herts Inclusive Theatre (HIT), the time has come for me to step down as Chief Executive.

This charity has been such a huge part of my life, and making this decision has not been easy. But over the past seven years, life has brought more challenges than I ever imagined.

I experienced the heartbreak of losing a baby at 20 weeks, found the strength to leave an abusive relationship, moved into council accommodation with my children, fought to regain my home through the courts, and spent over three years navigating the legal process. Throughout it all, I've raised my two children with little support and kept on leading an organisation.

Then, in May this year, we lost my wonderful dad. He had lived with cancer for 27 years, always facing life with courage, humour, and an incredible sense of adventure. Losing him has left an enormous hole in our lives and has made me realise that it's time to step back, focus on my own wellbeing, and be there for my children and my mum.

Before I say goodbye to HIT, I want to do one last thing for the charity that has meant so much to me.

I'm taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge in October to raise as much money as I possibly can for Herts Inclusive Theatre.

This challenge has been on my bucket list for years. Dad had even joked that he'd be our minibus driver. He loved the outdoors and spent many years leading Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, inspiring young people to push themselves beyond what they thought possible.

To honour him, I'll be carrying his memory with me every step of the way and scattering some of his ashes at the summit of each of the three mountains.

I'm also incredibly proud to be taking on this adventure alongside fellow CEOs from across Hertfordshire, helping to shine a spotlight on the amazing work charities are doing in our communities every single day.

If HIT has ever touched your life, or if my story has touched your heart, I'd be so grateful for your support. Every donation, no matter the size, will help ensure more people can access the life-changing opportunities that Herts Inclusive Theatre provides.

* £20 could help provide accessible creative resources.

* £50 could support an inclusive workshop.

* £100 could help fund a participant's place.

* £500 could contribute to a larger community project.

Thank you for believing in HIT, for supporting this final challenge, and for helping me make my last fundraising effort as Chief Executive one to remember.
