I was doing “Couch to 5k “ when I applied for the London Marathon. I’m a Dentist and mother of 3, I wasn’t a runner but I wanted achallenge in a big birthday year. I was completely surprised, excited, and a little bit terrified when I got a place but I knew there was only one charity I wanted to raise money for.

My gorgeous daughter Claudia has learning disabilities, for the first 10 years of her life we didn’t have a diagnosis but knew that she was struggling with speech , language, walking, coordination, development and learning. We now know that she has a totally random chromosomal mutation. In January, Claudia turned 18, she has achieved so much and is a bright shining light and an inspiration. Claudia has never been able to access mainstream school and has been supported for the past 7 years by Claremount Specialist Sports College, my Charity! It’s an outstanding school with amazing staff who are totally dedicated to enabling their pupils to achieve their potential. For a long time, Claremount had been based in a building that had passed its best and was no longer fit for purpose. Last year, the school were lucky enough to be offered a relocation to an empty school building which was certainly an upgrade, but needs some help to reflect the special culture of Claremount. The entrance hall, in particular, could do with some love and attention to provide a welcoming environment to reflect the ethos, enthusiasm,, energy and dedication of the staff and students.

Luckily, I have a friend who is one of the most talented and generous people I’ve ever met, and is the perfect person to help. Emma Rodgers is a sculptor who has accomplished a huge amount locally in the North West, nationally, and internationally. She has offered to work with the school community to transform the entrance hall using the bees on the school badge as inspiration. Bees and bee hives symbolise harmony and working together and the rhythm and hum of the life of the bees and hives represent hope which is exactly what Claremount gives to its pupils, parents and carers. Emma and the school community are going to work together to produce a fantastic wall of art, I just have to raise the money to fund the materials for the project.

Please donate what you can to help fund a special project for this special hive where every bee is treasured and helped to their full potential.

Let’s create a BUZZ! Let’s get ready to bumble!
