Story

Running for a Cause Close to My Heart – The Miscarriage Association

As I approach my 50th year, I'm lacing up my running shoes once again — not just to challenge myself, but to raise money for a charity that’s supported me through some of the hardest moments in my life: The Miscarriage Association.

In my 40s, I experienced multiple miscarriages. It was a time filled with grief, loneliness, and so many unspoken emotions. Miscarriage is still such a taboo subject in the UK — and when you go through it, especially more than once, it can feel like you're the only one. But I wasn’t. Thanks to The Miscarriage Association, I found a lifeline — a community of understanding, shared stories, and compassion. Their online support helped me feel seen and heard when I needed it most.

This amazing charity works tirelessly to raise awareness, break the silence around miscarriage, and provide vital support to people going through it. They were there for me when I felt most alone — and now, I want to give something back.

This year, I’ll be running my third Great North Run — my first in over 18 years — and returning to my North East roots makes it even more special. Joining thousands of runners, I’ll be thinking of all those who’ve experienced loss, and of the strength we find when we come together.

Whatever you can give — big or small — will go directly to helping this wonderful charity continue its work. Thank you so much for your support.

Let’s keep breaking the silence, together. 💙
