Story

Hello everyone

I hope you’re all doing well. I’m writing to share something very personal and meaningful to me as I prepare for the 2025 London Marathon

Late last year I was involved in a serious accident when I was knocked down by a vehicle. It was a life-changing experience that made me re-evaluate what truly matters. Thankfully, I’ve been able to recover and continue my training, but it was a wake-up call for me about the fragility of life and how important it is to give back to the community that supports us. This is why, as I prepare for the marathon, I’ve chosen to dedicate my run to supporting Westcroft Road Community Centre food banks that provides critical help to families in our community who are struggling to make ends meet.

The marathon has always been a lifelong ambition for me, but this year, it’s about so much more. It’s about resilience, recovery and making a tangible impact where it’s needed most. Through my accident, I’ve come to appreciate even more the importance of community support and food banks have become a beacon of hope for so many families facing hardship. Their work to provide food, emotional support and access to resources is vital and I’m determined to use this opportunity to help them do even more.

I have had the privilege of working with foodbank volunteers’ numerous times and having seen first-hand how hard they work to support local families in need, I know just how much impact the food bank has on the lives of those who are struggling.

Last year, 3.12 million food parcels were delivered nationally - almost double the number from five years ago. Without food banks, so many families would face impossible choices between heating their homes and eating.

Thank you so much and together let’s make sure we make a positive contribution to our communities!
