Glasgow Kiltwalk 2024 · 28 April 2024 ·

We help the babies, children and young people treated at Scotland's largest children's hospital, the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow. We fund medical equipment, research, play programmes and family support services to ensure that our young patients receive the best possible care and experience.

Story

Myself and a bunch of pals are participating in this years Kiltwalk in memory of Ava Helena Marklow, our friends daughter. Ava was born pre-mature at 26 weeks on October the 4th. Ava contracted an infection a few weeks after she was born that she unfortunately did not recover from. She passed away in her parents arms on the 3rd of November.

Ava's parents got four weeks with Ava, four weeks where she showed them how strong she was, how fiesty she was and where they got to create some lasting memories. The staff, especially the nurses, at the NICU in the Queen Elizabeth were incredible. The care and love they showed toward Ava, Craig and Susanne every day was literally life sustaining. Every day they showed them their daughter mattered.

We are aiming to raise funds for the NICU through the Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity by completing the Mighty Stride 23 mile walk. For anyone who knows us they will appreciate that this will be far from easy and there will more than likely be at least one injury. So please donate what you can for this amazing charity in memory of Ava and the amazing work the NICU staff at the Glasgow Children's Hospital continue to do.⁸
