Alice is now a healthy teenager and wants to raise money for the Children’s Hospital at Leicester where her life was saved a decade ago.

During the early months of 2015, Alice (aged 3) became ill to the point where she was unable to keep food down and was losing weight. After much medical testing including three general anaesthics and a seven hour operation she was diagnosed with Brunners Gland Hyperplasia - an incredibly rare condition for young children. In fact she’s the youngest person in the world to have been diagnosed with this condition and has a published medical journal article all about her!! We are incredibly grateful to the medical team at Leicester Royal Infirmary for their determination to identify the issue and for their care of both Alice and our family during the most difficult of times.

Five years ago, aged eight, Alice ran 50 miles in a month and this time, Alice has set her goal on achieving an Ironman in a month.

The challenge commences today, 1st June, and by 30th June, Alice will have swum 2.4 miles, cycled 112 miles and run a full marathon (26.2 miles).

Other family challenges are likely to be added throughout 2025 as Alice’s family mark the 10th anniversary of the medical marvel.
