Story
I am walking the final section of the French Way, to Santiago de Compostela, for St Michael's Hospice, in October 2024, in memory of my wonderful husband Kevin Gent.
Kevin; husband, father, grandfather, friend, bell ringer, intrepid walker, died after a short illness from Pancreatic Cancer in April 2022, at the hospice.
Kevin and I have always been very keen walkers. We had many trips planned for our retirement. Sadly we cannot make these trips together, but I am continuing to walk and trek with family and friends.
Walking the Camino de Sanatiago will be a challenge both emotionally and physically. Who will map read now? A skill I have yet to acquire!
Walking such a historic and fascinating route, whilst raising valuable funds for the hospice will be so rewarding. The care and support provided by the staff at St Michael's enabled Kevin to die peacefully, surrounded by family, friends and our dog, Duke. Such special care should be available for everyone .
All the sponsorship money I receive will go to the hospice.
Please donate as much as you can and share our story.
Thank you so much,
Caroline
