Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Parkinson's is the fastest-growing neurological condition in the world. In the UK, someone is diagnosed every 20 minutes, and by 2030 an estimated 173,000 people will be living with the condition here.

Many people think Parkinson's is simply a tremor, but it is a complex neurological disease with more than 40 possible symptoms. Every person experiences it differently, affecting not only movement but also sleep, speech, swallowing, thinking, mood and many other aspects of daily life.

Rhys was diagnosed with Parkinson's in the summer of 2019. He faced every challenge the disease threw at him with remarkable courage, dignity and characteristic stoicism. He rarely complained and often hid just how much he was coping with, determined to carry on enjoying life for as long as he could.

If you would like to make a donation in Rhys's memory, we would be deeply grateful. Every contribution, however small, helps Parkinson's UK to fund research, provide support and work towards better treatments and, one day, a cure.

At our request, all donations made in Rhys's memory will be restricted to supporting the work of Parkinson's UK Cymru, helping improve services and support for people living with Parkinson's here in Wales.

Thank you for helping us honour Rhys's memory in such a meaningful way.
