Story

In September 2021, I received the news that no one ever wants to hear - I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was a sudden and unexpected blow that left me feeling vulnerable and scared. But, I was fortunate enough to have the support of two incredible organizations - The Staffordshire based Pink Sisters and Macmillan Cancer Support. Through them, I found a community of women who shared their stories, offered words of encouragement, and provided invaluable advice.

As October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it feels like the perfect time to give back. That's why I've decided to embark on a virtual expedition along the Appalachian Trail - all in support of both organisations. This 2174.8-mile journey through mountainous terrain is not for the faint-hearted; people have lost their lives or gone missing on this trail. However, I will complete the challenge virtually with my trusty Garmin watch by my side, and I'm confident that I can complete this challenge safely and successfully.

I estimate that it will take me about a year to complete this journey at six miles per day. It's not going to be easy, but it's nothing compared to what those fighting cancer go through every day. That's why I'm asking for your help in reaching my fundraising goal of £300 for Macmillan Cancer Support and the same for Pink Sisters. You are currently on the Macmillan page.

Macmillan Cancer Support is an incredible organisation that provides everything they've got to help those fighting cancer. They offer support and guidance every step of the way - from diagnosis to treatment and beyond. But they can't do it alone; they need our help to continue providing these vital services.
