We brighten the lives of children who are living with serious or life-limiting illnesses, between the ages of 3-18, across the United Kingdom by granting their wish and supporting them in hospitals and hospices.

Story

Hi everyone I’m Carrie-Ann Wallace and next April I will be running The London Marathon!!!! This is all thanks to being offered a charity place with the amazing Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity who do an incredible job granting wishes for seriously ill children and I will be raising funds and proudly running for them in April, I actually can’t believe it!!!

So here’s my running story- I was a treadmill runner back before Covid and did it to loose weight initially but was way too embarrassed to run outside even though I really wanted to I just never did, then I contracted covid followed by long covid and was barely able to get out of bed never mind run or even walk for months. I was off work for almost a year and even my mental health deteriorated, I was in a horrible place.

I slowly got better, got back to work and did some walking and a few little treadmill jogs then one day I just did it, I covered up with loads of clothes and a hat and went out in the dark 😂 and I ran my first ever outdoor 5k!

I was hooked I built up distance as well as confidence but more importantly my body and mind felt the best they had ever done and I just can’t imagine my life without running now.

I’m 44 and this March I took on my longest distance yet - a half marathon something I never thought would be possible but I did it and then thought let’s give the full marathon a go, I’m not a fast runner and I don’t know what to expect but I do know it’s going to be hard and I’ll give it my best shot and it will probably be my first and last marathon 😂 but what a marathon to be part of!

So I’m asking for lots of support to help raise lots of money for this amazing charity and to get me to London!
