Story
The YMCA Day of Giving is a chance to change the trajectory of a child’s life through youth development programs at the Y!
My grandmother, Sarah Patten, was leader of the Capital Campaign that built the Gamble Nippert YMCA in Cincinnati. Gamble Nippert opened it's doors in 1966 and thousands of us athletes began our careers there.
Grandma continued her service by leading crafts for thousands of Y children in summer camps at the South Dade Y when she was well into her 80's. She knew the value of the Y programs for kids and worked her whole life to make sure every child had the opportunity to participate.
There are many issues facing our community, but thankfully the Y is uniquely positioned to help meet many of these needs. In 2024:
• The Y will provide over $2 million in financial scholarships for programs like preschool, afterschool and summer camp.
• Over 3,000 children will be served with literacy instruction through programs like Y Readers, which is offered at no charge to participants.
• Over 1,500 children will receive swimming lessons at affordable rates for their families.
To continue serving the community, we need your support! Give today so we can provide these services for all.
