Walk Across Devon For Mental Health

Casey Blackmore is raising money for The Devon Clinic

Coast to Coast Walk Across Devon · 19 June 2026 ·

Support The Devon Clinic’s 24 in 26 Challenge — a 109km (68 miles), 24-hour walk from Westward Ho! to Paignton across Dartmoor, raising funds to help provide affordable counselling and mental health support for people across Devon.

Story

On Friday 19th of June to Saturday 20th June 2026, from 6pm to 6pm, I’ll be attempting something that feels utterly bonkers: 109km in 24 hours, from Westward Ho! to Paignton via Dartmoor. Yes, you read that right — 109 kilometres, in one go, across Dartmoor, in 24 hours.

Why? That’s a very good question.

When this challenge first popped up on my Facebook last October, I remember thinking, “Ooooh, I’d love to do that.” I registered my interest and then promptly forgot all about it. Fast forward to two weeks ago, when my lovely friend Fi mentioned she had a place — and then casually added that so did I, if I wanted it.

Did I want it? That was the question.

I’ve always been drawn to a challenge. I completed Ten Tors (35 miles) and trained for the 45-mile event before it was cancelled due to foot and mouth. I’ve trekked 100km through the foothills of the Himalayas — albeit over five days. But the truth is, every challenge I’ve ever taken on has been inspired by my Grandma, Pat Regardsoe.

Many of you will know her. She is, quite simply, incredible. She has walked every training step alongside me for previous challenges and has taken on her own adventures too, including smashing Machu Picchu. Her determination and strength have always pushed me to believe I can do more than I think I can.

At almost 89, she has very graciously decided to sit this one out — although I’m hoping she might join me for a kilometre or two along the way. A few years ago, I have absolutely no doubt her name would have been right at the top of the list.

So why am I really doing this?

I’m doing it because I want to test myself — to see if I can. I’m doing it because if Fi is brave enough to put her name down for something like this, then I’m certainly going to keep her company. And I’m doing it to show our children, Thomas and Willow, that all you can ask of yourself is to give something your very best go. Jamie has already proved that with his incredible running, so now it’s my turn.

Most importantly, we’re raising money for The Devon Clinic, a local charity providing affordable counselling and mental health support to people in our community.

If I’m honest, I genuinely don’t know if I’m capable of completing 109km in 24 hours. It feels huge and completely insane — but I’m going to give it everything I have.

If you’re able to support me, whether by donating, sharing this page, or sending encouragement (especially at 3am when I’m questioning my life choices somewhere on Dartmoor!), I would be ever so grateful.
