Staff Walk from Casllwchwr to Noah's Ark / Community Rainbow Run · 17 November 2023

Creating brighter todays and better tomorrows for the children of Wales. Our mission is to support the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales and the children and families within it. Every penny you raise goes towards supporting children who will need specialist and often life-saving treatment.

Story

We have recently been contacted by the parents of Tyler, who is one of our lovely Reception children, to tell us the very concerning news that he has contracted Leukemia. Tyler and his family are currently living in Cardiff so that he is able to receive treatment at Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital. He is being extremely brave and he is having the very best care. As a school, we are keeping in regular contact with the family and they are happy for us to share this information with our families as they are having wonderful support from our amazing community.

As a staff we have decided to take on a challenge of our own to support Noah’s Ark and support Tyler and his family. Our staff are going to be walking from school in Loughor to The Heath Hospital in Cardiff on Saturday 11th November to raise money for the Hospital and help support the care that he is being given. We are being supported by one of our hardworking Governors, Mr Matthew Woolway, who is providing logistical assistance throughout the day and the 50 mile walk.

On Friday 17th November, which is Children in Need Day, we will be having our very own challenge where all of our children are able to get involved. We will be running / jogging / walking around Parc Williams in our very own ‘Rainbow Run’, where the children will be encouraged to wear colourful clothing and raise money for the children’s hospital.

We are currently working with the Charity Fundraising Team at the Hospital and have set up this Just Giving page where families can donate to Noah’s Ark in support of Tyler.

We are so proud of Tyler and his family, and we are right behind him all the way! Get well soon, Tyler and we can’t wait to have you back in school as soon as possible.

Noah's Ark: Our mission is to support the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales and the thousands of children and families within it. Working hand in hand with people like you to do this, we fund:

- state of the art equipment that saves lives, improves outcomes and makes treatment more bearable

- facilities that allow parents and carers to access care as quickly as possible for their children and enable families to enjoy as much time as they can together

- support services that make the hospital experience less stressful and more child focused
