Story
Hi, thank you for visiting my page!
I would love your support as I cycle 89 miles around Lough Neagh (the biggest lake in Ireland) on the 25th of August. I am doing this to raise money for Mercy Ships - an incredible medical charity serving some of the poorest people in the world. Mercy Ships first caught my imagination several years ago when my daughter, then a young doctor, spent a year volunteering with the charity in Cameroon. It is my own dream to also volunteer in the future as a nurse.
At the start of this year I myself underwent surgery, followed by first class life saving treatment in the NHS. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to be living in a country where free healthcare is everyone’s right. Five billion people in the world today have no access to safe, affordable surgery when they need it. Mercy Ships is working hard to plug this gap. Since 1978 they have helped more than 2.5 million people, and also trained more than 38,000 local health professionals in some of the poorest countries in Africa.
Any support at all would be so appreciated as I step up the training in the next few months. I’m aiming to raise £1,620 (£30 for every country in Africa) at least.
Please learn more about the work of Mercy Ships and read some amazing stories on their website www.mercyships.org.uk
Thank you,
Nina x
