The Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team is a totally voluntary organisation. It exists to help save lives and assist injured and distressed people in Cleveland and the Western areas of North York Moors. In the 50+ years of its existence the Team has been involved in well over 1000 incidents.

Story

Mark, much loved husband, dad, grandad, and friend died suddenly on the 18th October, whilst out walking the dogs in his local woods. He was an avid birdwatcher, hiker, and cyclist. Mark loved being outdoors, and devoted his time and energy to conservation, bird surveying, and enjoying nature. He was a supporter of his local Mountain Rescue Team since he spent much of his time in the local hills. We have set this fundraiser up to help raise funds for the team who are vital to anyone who may get into difficulty in the areas he loved the most.

Read below for more about the team:

The Team was established in 1965 and normally have around 45 – 50 Search and Rescue Team Members (including probationers) who are on call 24-hours a day every day of the year. We also have approximately 20 Support Team members assisting all aspects of the team but especially fundraising and acting as casualties.

We are all volunteers; we have no paid staff and our services are offered free to anyone who needs them. We are reliant on the generosity of local people and groups to cover the £42,000 it costs to run the Team every year. I
