Story
On Saturday 7th September I’m doing a sponsored walk with Read Easy Waltham Forest, a charity that provides one-to-one coaching for adults who want to learn to read.
There are more than two million adults in England who didn’t learn to read as children for one reason or another. Read Easy offers a free and confidential opportunity to learn, away from a classroom setting, and working at someone’s own pace. I am a trustee of a local branch of Read Easy and a volunteer coach myself.
To raise money for books, other teaching resources, and training for new volunteers, our group has organised a sponsored walk visiting every library in Waltham Forest borough from Leyton to Chingford. The walk is only 12 miles long, so I am not looking for sponsorship for the physical effort – but if you wanted to donate to a good cause I would be very grateful!
