Story
I am joining Naima Ali, Madam Mayor of Southwark to virtually Go the Distance between Southwark in London to Nairobi in Kenya.
Together we will complete 4,241 miles between 1st January – 6th February, International Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation.
The challenge will raise funds for ActionAid's work tackling violence against women and girls.
Naima says “As Mayor of Southwark and a passionate advocate for ending Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), I am deeply committed to driving meaningful change both locally and globally. As a survivor and FGM ambassador, I understand the profound impact of this harmful practice, and I have dedicated my life to raising awareness and supporting survivors. This walk represents a step forward in solidarity, empowerment, and hope."
Naima is an inspiration to me and to so many people. It is an honour and a privilege to join her in highlighting and tackling this important cause.
