I am excited (and fearful!) to be participating in the Marathon Internacional de Los Andes in support of The Peru Children's Trust.

On Sunday 19 November, I will be running 21km at 3,259m above sea level. To put into perspective, that's 2.5 times the height of Ben Nevis!

Running at high altitude is tough. Really tough. This half marathon is not only a physical challenge for me, but an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children who need it most.

The Peru Children's Trust is doing incredible work to ensure poor and vulnerable children have access to an education, healthcare, emotional support and better living conditions.

Poor children in Peru are often subjected to the worst forms of child labour including mining and working in the fields, often resulting in sexual abuse or exploitation. Therefore the success of charities like The Peru Children's Trust are crucial.

To date, the charity has helped over 2,000 children to complete their studies with some going on to gain university degrees, and others setting up successful businesses. Thanks to them, thousands of lives and futures have been changed.
