Story
This September I will be taking part in the Edinburgh Kiltwalk (21 miles) in loving memory of my daughter Karen who sadly passed away 5 years ago.
Karen was happy, bubbly and full of life right throughout her struggle with secondary breast cancer. She always put others first, caring deeply for those around her and bringing warmth and kindness wherever she went. She loved life and her family and made a lasting memory to everyone who knew her.
Although five years have passed, Karen remains forever in our hearts and this walk is a way to honour her memory while supporting a cause that means so much to Jim & I and Alistair & Tristan.
I am raising funds for Karen’s Legacy Fund with Make2ndsCount supporting others living with secondary breast cancer and making each day a little more special for them. From our Tea & Chat, yoga online classes with Yvonne and special gifts for the Retreat ladies. Karen’s strongest passions while enduring her treatment.
Every donation, no matter the size, will support the incredible work being carried out and will mean so much to us all as we celebrate the wonderful person Karen was.
Thank you for your kindness generosity and support in helping keep Karen’s memory and legacy alive.
Secondary (metastatic) breast cancer is a cancer that has spread beyond the breast to other parts of the body.
An estimated 61,000 men and women in the UK are living with this incurable disease, and symptoms can vary from person to person. It has a devastating impact on people affected and their families, yet many people have never heard of it. It is one of the biggest killers of women under 50 in the UK.
Secondary breast cancer can be treated but it cannot be cured.
