Story
The Brain Tumour Charity is the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally. In May 2022, my dad was diagnosed with having a glioblastoma which is a Grade 4 serious brain tumour. He received treatment through a major brain operation, chemotherapy and radiotherapy and fought the tumour for 30 months until passing on 24 November 2024🤍
My dad was always determined and a strong fighter in everything that he achieved. His resilience to keep going is a trait that I am grateful he has passed down to me. This will help me in my training required for a full marathon, and I am motivated by his spirit always being with me.
I am a proud Young Ambassador for the Brain Tumour Charity, involved in raising awareness of brain tumours and influencing the charities work. My family are continually grateful for the information and services that have been provided by the charity, including their resources online that provide comfort and support, and counselling services that provide support to people with lived experience of brain tumours/and or care for loved ones with brain tumours.
It is a real privilege to be able to run the Berlin Marathon for such an important cause, to give back to a charity that does life-saving work and running with my dad's spirit within me. Last year I previously fundraised £2400 for the charity in London Landmarks Half Marathon in April 2024 this year, and looking to challenge myself even further by completing a full marathon in 2025.
I’m running the Berlin Marathon and fundraising for the Brain Tumour Charity in memory of my dad. I’m running for you dad to know that you’re not alone. I want to show you how strong I have become 🏃♀️💙
