Story
To mark 30 years since I had osteosarcoma, I'm swimming to raise funds for the Bone Cancer Research Trust, to help ensure they can continue their vital research into primary bone cancer and be there to support patients and their families impacted by this disease.
I have always loved swimming- taking part & winning medals in school and guides swimming galas. After having an osteosarcoma in my pelvis at 14 years old swimming became a way for me to feel free and ‘normal’ as it’s weight free. Freestyle is my stroke of choice as I can’t turn my hip to do breaststroke and I use my arms, barely kicking with my legs!
My challenge is:
Every month with just 30 days, in plus February (my birthday month), I’m going to swim 50 lengths three times a week(150 lengths a week), for 4 weeks (600 lengths a month) so over 5 months I will swim 3000 lengths/32.6 miles!
Starting in November 2025- finishing September 2026
November done ✔️
February done ✔️
April done ✔️
Working towards start of June- excited to start next months swim 🏊
