Story
In 2024 my sister Catherine and I (Louise) were both diagnosed with breast cancer. This came through Catherine attending a free Action Cancer mammogram. She had no noticeable symptoms, but the mammogram picked something up and led to her diagnosis. As a result I carried out a more thorough check and, after finding a lump, I received my diagnosis 3 months later. Catherine and I have now both completed all our treatments and are doing well.
We decided to take part in the Action Cancer Breast Foot Forward Walk to raise money for this fantastic charity which enabled us both to be diagnosed early enough for successful treatment.
Action Cancer is the only charity in the UK and Ireland offering free breast screening to ladies outside of the NHS age range 40 - 49 and 70+
This service is free to the user but each appointment costs Action Cancer £120.
Please donate whatever you can and you'll help enable other women to be diagnosed and treated as we were. If you're in the 40-49 or 70+ age category yourself, head to www.actioncancer.org and get booked in for a screening mammogram ASAP!
Thanks!
