I have signed up to one of the biggest challenges of my life & probably the most crazy !

To trek Mount Kilimanjaro & Mount Meru in Africa on 11th January - 22nd January 2026 & raise funds for the amazing St Mary’s Hospice 💕

Mount Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano in Tanzania. It is the highest mountain in Africa and one of the highest free standing mountains above sea level in the world at 5,895m.

For comparison and for those that have climbed Catbells near Keswick, that is 451m - Kilimanjaro is over 12 times that 😮 ⛰️.

I will spend several days ascending to reach the summit, where I will spend my days travelling through rainforest, moorland, highland desert and finally / hopefully reaching the arctic zone at the summit 🤞

Those that know me, some negative points (said in jest) 😜

* The last few days of the trek I will be sleeping in a tent ⛺️

* No Costa coffee shops ☕️

* No internet or wifi 📱

* No bath 🛁

* Night temperatures around - 10🥶

* Altitude sickness 🤢 a great possibility

* Toilet 🚽 facilities l’m guessing like the ones on I’m A Celebrity

So why do it 🤔:-

St Mary’s Hospice provided the most wonderful care for my mum and offered help with the care for my dad which I will never forget.

Without the fundraising by individuals, the local community & businesses the hospice would not be able to continue to provide this amazing service.

To run all the facilities that are available at St Mary’s, I believe it costs around £15,200 a day !

I just want to do my little bit so that St Mary’s can continue to provide this outstanding service in our local community.
