Catherine takes on The LAP for WLDCS

Catherine Sharpe is raising money for WLDCS

The LAP Ultra · 12 September 2026

There are about 300 deaf children in the Wigan borough and most are born into families with no experience of deafness. It is really important for them to grow up knowing other deaf children. We arrange activities and events for the children and their families.

🗓 Saturday 12th September 2026

⏰️ 6am start

📏 47- miles

⛰️ 2,500m ascent

📍 Lake Windermere

⌛️ 24-hour cut off time

I'll be completing this without my usual wing-woman, so it will definitely be more mentally challenging! This is also the furthest I'll ever have been in one day. Likely the hardest challenging to date, and that's being said after competing in the Deadly Dozen Gross.

It's going to take a lot of grit, strength and determination - and sweets, pizza and electrolytes - to keep me going!

I'm fundraising for Wigan and Leigh Deaf Children's Society (WLDCS) who I'm proud to be a Trustee for. We provide support and events for Deaf children and their families across the Wigan and Leigh Borough. As a small charity, we don't have regular streams on income. We rely on successful bids - which seem to be getting harder to apply for - and donations.

If you can, please do spare some change! Seeing the pennies come in really helps on the day motivation.

If you happen to be around Windermere on the day... cheer on any runners you see!

Thank you.
