Gower Peninsula Ultra Challenge 2025 · 19 July 2025 to 20 July 2025 ·

We provide essential support and information to enable people with vestibular disorders to cope positively and get the right diagnosis. We are a voice for sufferers and raise awareness for greater understanding. We work towards a brighter future through investment in vital medical research.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

Some of you will know that I was diagnosed with Meniere's disease in my late teens. Meniere's is a long term, progressive vestibular condition, which affects the balance and hearing parts of the inner ear, often causing severe dizziness, tinnitus and increasing deafness. There is no cure and no known cause. It's not that well known as it affects roughly one person for every 1-2,000.

Those of you who knew me in my 20s will know that Meniere's can make life quite difficult at times. I spent much of that decade either falling over or spending hours lying down while the world span around me - though admittedly some of the time it was the result of typical over indulgence by a 20-something year old! Thankfully the days of severe vertigo seem now to be behind me thanks to surgery but I am left with permanent tinnitus and progressive hearing loss, which can be both frustrating and isolating.

I have decided to undertake this Ultra Challenge with my Dad. We are aiming to walk 50kms in one day. I will be walking to raise funds for The Meniere's Society, who do vital work to support sufferers of Meniere's Disease and other vestibular disorders, raise awareness and fundraise for medical research.

Thank you so much for supporting me.
