Snowdon at Night for LOROS 2026 · 3 October 2026 ·

Taking on the Snowdon at Night challenge is your opportunity to conquer this magnificent peak in a truly unique way. You’ll trek alongside fellow fundraisers united for LOROS, where every step counts for local families supported by LOROS.

Story

We are raising money in memory of our dad, David Waite, who was so well cared for by LOROS during his short battle with liver cancer. LOROS provided invaluable and immediate support following Dad’s diagnosis, alongside incredible end-of-life care, ensuring he was comfortable and able to have his family by his side right up until his passing. The staff were kind, compassionate and incredibly respectful at all times, and we will always be grateful for the care and dignity they showed him and all of us as a family.

We are also taking on this challenge in memory of our mum, Mary. Although Mum didn’t receive physical care from LOROS before she passed away from lung cancer, the emotional support and reassurance they gave us during such a difficult time meant so much.

Sadly, LOROS has recently experienced funding difficulties, which has meant some of their much-needed services have had to be reduced. By completing this challenge and raising money, we hope to help ensure other local families can continue to receive the same care, support and compassion that meant so much to us.

Every year, LOROS need to raise over £9 million to continue providing care and comfort to those who rely on them, so donations generously made via our page will make a huge difference to LOROS and will enable them to continue caring for patients and their families. For example:

£6 could pay for meals for a patient for a day

£11 could pay for collection of a patient from home for day therapy

£27 could pay for an hour of specialist palliative nursing care

£1310 could pay for the running of the Hospice for an hour

THE CHALLENGE

Beginning in the town of Llanberis, in the heart of Eryri National Park, We’ll take on this unforgettable challenge alongside fellow LOROS supporters, trekking to the summit of Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) — at night.

Standing at 1,085 metres, Snowdon is the highest mountain in England and Wales — and under the cover of darkness, it becomes an even greater test of our endurance, determination and teamwork. Guided by the beam of my headtorch and the encouragement of those around us, We’ll push ourselves physically and mentally to reach the summit beneath the star-filled skies.

Taking on the Snowdon at Night challenge is our opportunity to conquer this magnificent peak in a truly unique and unforgettable way. We’ll trek alongside fellow fundraisers united for LOROS Hospice, supported every step of the way by experienced mountain leaders. It’s a powerful challenge, an incredible experience — a chance to make every step count for local families supported by LOROS.
