Story
For a number of years now I have been the one in my very large family to organise our family secret Santa.
Last year we chose to donate our secret Santa money to Birmingham Children’s Hospital who cared for my baby grandson.
This year we would like our secret Santas to go to Catholic Care who have cared for our brother Michael so well for the past five years.
Michael who has Down Syndrome moved to Leeds in 2019 at the age of 55 from Liverpool where he had lived all his life with our mother, in order to live in his own home next door to one of my sisters.
This would not have been possible without Michael’s devoted live-in carers Cath and Kieron from the Catholic Care team who have always gone above and beyond in looking after him. Now as his dementia progresses either Marie, Julie or Bev are called on daily to help them with his care.
So we will be forever grateful for the wonderful work that Catholic Care does in the community for people like my brother. All of my family would like to say a huge thank you for the love and outstanding care and devotion they show and continue to show our beloved brother, uncle and great uncle Micky.❤️
