Story
In 2014, Cathy and Andrew Brown had the idea of walking from Land’s End to John O’Groats. Hearing Steve Blease tell stories of this incredible walk sparked their imaginations, whilst randomly meeting him on a train crossing Canada.
Nine years later, whilst hiking from coast to coast, they fell in love with walking and found that they didn’t want to stop! Naturally, the idea of walking the longest distance you can do on the British Isles resurfaced; this time they have decided to go for it!
So, on Easter Saturday 2026, Cathy and Andrew will leave Land’s End and start walking the 1,103 miles to their final destination of John O’Groats. Through taking a sabbatical from running her own business, Cathy will walk the full distance over 96 days, arriving into John O’Groats in early July. Whilst still working as an architect with Pick Everard, Andrew will join her on the first and final quarter of the route and be a crucial member of the support team, alongside a growing friendship chain.
Given this huge endeavour, which they will fund their own personal costs, Cathy and Andrew have decided to raise money for a charity that has personal meaning. More recently, cancer has impacted their lives, both personally and with family members and friends. Being a charity that Pick Everard supports, Hope Against Cancer was a natural choice, and Andrew and Cathy are very proud to raise money for this fantastic cause.
