Dawson charity Darts Tournament 2024 · 16 December 2024

With a focus on patient-centred care, we combine state-of-the art-equipment, novel clinical trials, passionate staff and the most modern cancer research with compassion and effective psychological support so that our patients and their loved ones can feel fully supported throughout their cancer journey. We do this because we know each person and every cancer is unique - we don’t want to treat them all the same. Guy’s is the leading UK provider of care and treatment for people with cancer and we’re dedicated to helping patients navigate what can be the most challenging time of their lives. With all our services located under one roof within our bright and welcoming Cancer Centre, we’re able to offer seamless care every step of the way, from diagnosis, through treatment, and after, in an environment that doesn’t feel like a traditional hospital. We know that the landscape of cancer is changing. More people are being affected, but we’re at an exciting point in time when promising new therapies are being developed and research breakthroughs are waiting to be made. It’s crucial that we continue to fund the innovative research, treatment and exceptional care that takes place at Guy’s to ensure we keep going above and beyond what the NHS alone can provide as we help more people cope with and survive cancer.

Story

Roger Ernest Dawson was a internationally renowned Double bass restorer and maker. His talent and his skills, learnt from an early age, earned him the name ' magic hands' being so gifted . He said he could look at an instrument and know how it should sound.

He was the master of his craft.

A quiet, discreet genius.

A much loved , gentle, man who dedicated his life to his clients and their precious instruments. Whether a student or a top professional, he treated everyone with the same respect and dignity and was loyal and fair and honest and kind. He is dearly missed.

When he was diagnosed with incurable metastatic Prostate Cancer (cancer that had already spread to his bones ) Guys Cancer Centre looked after Roger for many years.

With their care and dedication they gave us hope when we thought there was none. They helped him to continue to live on well and happily despite such a diagnosis .

This is why I want to continue to raise money for this precious Cancer Centre. In Roger's memory . To help give others the hope to live on despite the devastating diagnosis of Cancer. Whether that money goes to the Consultants , nurses, technicians , staff equipment ,treatments , palliative care, it is all invaluable.

Please Help me raise funds for Guys Cancer Centre , who help give others the hope's we were given ,

in Roger's memory❤

Thankyou So Much
