In 2024 we were hit with the devastating news that our beautiful Cathy was diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer, Blastic Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cell Neoplasm. Haven’t heard of it? No, nor had we and we wish it stayed that way.

Since then, it’s been months of intense and gruelling treatment for Cathy. 4 rounds of chemo with another round upcoming, endless blood transfusions, a fungal infection on her liver…the list goes on. And soon, the big bone marrow transplant with the help of her lovely sister.

To get this far, Cathy has also had to isolate away from friends and family as getting extra sick of top of everything else is just too risky. It’s been tough and we miss her so so much.

Cathy is a reminder of how cancer doesn't discriminate. Ask any member of UBL and we would all tell you how she’s the fittest and healthiest of us all. Forever in the great outdoors, walking and hiking, no doubt with a backpack full of fruit and protein.

This is why we think the Glow Green 8km walk is the perfect thing to do in honour of Cathy and Clatterbridge Cancer Centre who are taking such good care of her.

It's time to get your glow on, and mark World Cancer Day 2025! With over £500,000 raised in just three years by over 3,000 incredible supporters, Clatterbridge will take you on another fantastic walk around Liverpool City Centre taking in views of some of the most iconic landmarks including the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, the Radio City Tower and of course Clatterbridge Cancer Centre: Liverpool.

You will be given a warm welcome by our fantastic team who will be cheering you on and keeping you inspired throughout the walk at various points along the 8km route - so don't forget to give our Clatterbridge cheer squads a wave when you see them!

Entertainment and music will also be playing throughout the walk so whether you walk the walk or sashay away you're sure to have an incredible time with us. This event is something you won't want to miss, so gather your friends and family because it's time to light up, and Glow Green!
