Hampton Court Palace Half Marathon 2025 · 23 March 2025 ·

We have an unparalleled reputation for award-winning theatre and theatre education which helps women with experience of the criminal justice system to change their lives. We help women develop personal, social, professional and creative skills - often leading to education and employment.

Story

I grew up believing that my body could not run long distances. And this March I very hope to show my younger self that we are capable of anything if we put our minds to it by taking on my first half marathon attempt. I also grew up believing theatre can transform lives and minds and I could not be prouder to be taking on this challenge to support an organisation that seeks to do exactly that for women in the most challenging of circumstances.

Clean Break's vision is of a world where women can realise their full potential, free from criminalisation. The reasons why women find themselves caught up in the criminal justice system are tightly linked with mental ill health, addiction, trauma, domestic and sexual violence. Too often women struggle to access support, as services are stretched or unsuitable. Women find themselves punished by a system, built by men, that does not understand or meet their needs, and frequently exacerbates the harm they have already experienced.

As a very proud Clean Break Trustee but also as a woman and mother, I can see the incredible impact that Clean Break has on women's lives and the strong, inspirational community it has built in its building and beyond. We need organisations like Clean Break to build a better world for women and their families. Clean Break has outstanding outcomes, changing lives and changing minds and I am delighted to run for them.
