We share our lives with cats. They bring happiness to millions of us every day. Yet too many cats don’t get the care and kindness they deserve. At Cats Protection we stand up for every cat to make life better for cats and the people who care for them.

Story

Can you help Boots?

Boots is only 8 months old, but he has already been through a lot in his short life. Boots originally came into our care with his sister Luna. Boots and Luna were born as part of an unwanted litter. The original owner tried to rehome them but unfortunately the existing cats at their new home wouldn’t accept them.

When Boots arrived at our centre, we saw he had a noticeable limp. His owners said that he had had it since he was a very young kitten. We sent Boots to the vets for X-rays, where it was discovered, he had fractured both his hip joints, possibly resulting from an injury when he was a very young kitten and had some inherited weakness.

To help resolve Boots suffering, he has now undergone surgery to have a bilateral femoral head and neck excision and is currently on crate-rest. Boots is receiving physiotherapy, icing of the area and regular check-ups to make sure he's healing well. He has been as a good as gold throughout his treatment and recovery. Boots seems to especially enjoy his physio and will lay on his side purring and dozing off the whole time, he is such as affectionate boy!

However with Boots treatment comes costs. His care so far has cost us £2,800 and that is where we are asking for your help? Could you help us with the costs of Boot’s treatment? We do not receive any government funding and are totally reliant on donations to help unwanted cats and kittens. We appreciate times are tight, the minimum donation set by JustGiving is £2, but anything you can donate will be hugely appreciated. Whether it’s £2, £5 or £10, every penny and pound helps. Please donate today if you can. If we are fortunate enough to raise more funds than required to cover all of Boots treatment, the extra money will be used to help other cats in our care. Thank you.

Cats Protection help more cats than any other organisation and we want to help millions more. We are a dedicated community of passionate employees, volunteers, supporters and partners, working together to make life better for millions of cats and the people who care for them.
