Spud's Story fundraiser for Cats Protection

Spud’s story began in the quiet corner of a garden, where a volunteer was cat-sitting and noticed a black cat regularly appearing for food. It soon became clear that this wasn't just a neighborhood cat dropping by for snacks. Spud was living rough, and something wasn’t right – his front leg was deformed, and by now, ulcerated and painfully infected.
Determined to help him, the volunteer launched a one-cat rescue mission. Trapping Spud took dedication – three early morning stakeouts, a carefully placed trap, and many check-ins to finally catch this elusive boy. But once trapped, it was straight to the vet.
Despite everything, Spud was an absolute star at the vet clinic. He received antibiotics and was placed in a foster home while we waited to see if anyone came forward to claim him. No one did.
After giving him time to build up strength, the decision was made to amputate his damaged leg. We learned that poor Spud had been living with that broken leg for at least two years. It had healed on its own, and badly – but Spud had adapted the best he could, surviving day-to-day with quiet resilience.
Today, Spud is thriving as a tripod. He’s learning to trust, and now he is no longer in pain. He purrs for fuss, plays hide and seek with his Dreamies, and charms everyone he meets.
Spud’s journey from the streets to safety wasn’t easy – and it's not over yet. He still needs ongoing care, vet checks, and support while he waits for his forever home.
