Cavendish Scarecrow Festival

Cavendish Scarecrow Festival is raising money for River Stour Trust

Cavendish Scarecrow Festival 2026

We are a volunteer-led charity dedicated to restoring and conserving through navigation along 24.5 miles of the Suffolk & Essex River Stour (between Brundon, Sudbury and Cattawade, Brantham). We actively encourage use of the river and educate the public about this historic waterway.

Story

The Cavendish Scarecrow Festival is a celebration of creativity, community spirit, and the rich agricultural heritage that shapes our village. Throughout the festival, residents, families, businesses, and visitors come together to create imaginative scarecrows that bring Cavendish to life with colour, fun, and character for two weeks in the late summer.

This year, we are proud to be raising funds for the River Stour Trust - supporting the care and protection of the River Stour, the river that flows through the centre of Cavendish and connects our communities, wildlife, and countryside.

Now in it’s fourth year, the festival highlights the importance of our local landscape and farming traditions while encouraging people of all ages to get involved, explore the village, and celebrate together. Every donation made helps support the ongoing work to preserve and protect our river for future generations.

By supporting the Cavendish Scarecrow Festival, you are helping to champion local agriculture, strengthen community connections, and care for the natural environment that we call home.

Thank you for helping us make a difference - one scarecrow at a time.
