As Caversham United Chairman, and with our teams in different leagues last season, Sam’s story passed me by until the recent one year anniversary of his death. It is an incredibly sad and difficult story to learn about, and one that is particularly potent right now given the recent news of a Meningitis outbreak in Kent currently. Whilst I didn’t know Sam, he was clearly a well-loved figure among his team mates and the thoughts of Caversham United go to all of Sam’s family and friends as they continue to fight through a truly unimaginable loss. Whilst the teams may be rivals on the pitch today, we are all part of one footballing family across RG4.
