Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

With the pain and anguish of our last challenge now a distant memory, a team from CB Reid have decided to go again. This time we are attempting the 100k continuous Thames Path Challenge on 14th September. Whilst the terrain is not as tough as the Jurassic Coast Path, the distance, time on our feet and consequently time spent awake is certainly daunting to many of us.

This time we are supporting a local charity: hydro muscles. Located in the South of England, they are a charitable foundation dedicated to helping people living with rare muscle conditions. Their mission is to help make hydrotherapy accessible to those with non-cardiac or respiratory involvement muscular dystrophy. As a small charity, any sponsorship that we can raise we really make a tangible difference to people living with muscular dystrophy in our local community. Paul (Laura’s husband) has really benefited from the charity and that’s why were excited to support them and raise as much money as we can for them.

Whilst muscular dystrophy is a physical condition, living with the disability can be a difficult mental battle too and the benefits of hydrotherapy help to not only maintain and slow the progression of the illness, but also helps deliver the mental benefits of exercise, which can be difficult for those with the condition to achieve through other forms of exercise.
