Following in the footsteps of individual volunteers CCD has a team of six people going out to Kumi in July. They will be carrying on the mission and participating in the building project and faith activities with Mission Direct Partners in Kumi.

The team are, Andy, Angie, Jon, Liz, Robin and Tracy.

In 2025 we Mission Direct built four good quality homes for Teachers, which in turn released four classrooms which had been used for accommodation back to use for education.

Our target for 2026 is to complete another four homes and if possible provide washrooms and latrines too.

Wiggins is a Government Primary School near to Kumi Centre but serving a mainly rural community to the South of Kumi. It has just over one thousand students. The school has twenty teachers but only thirteen homes, some of which are in a very dilapidated condition. This means that six classrooms are being used to house teachers. The consequence of this is that some of the students are being taught in dilapidated classrooms from 1940’s, in which lessons are disrupted by poor weather.

Ensuring teachers are well housed has direct benefit to the children’s education, ensuring teachers are available without the worry of coping with inadequate housing.
