The Chester and District Explorers have been given the opportunity to attend a week-long trip to Norway in August 2024.

They will have the chance to complete several personal challenges, including white water rafting, hiking, climbing and abseiling, as well as connecting with international scouts and sharing stories of how scouting is conducted in different countries – making friends for life.

The young people will be supported by their parents to raise a grand total of £39,000 to fund this trip. This will be done by doing a variety of fundraising activities – evening entertainment events, afternoon teas, sponsored events, raffles, bingos, etc.

Many of the opportunities for international expeditions were cancelled due to the Covid 19 pandemic, so this will be the first chance for many of these young people. Several of these young people come from deprived backgrounds, and being a member of The Scout Association affords opportunities that would never present themselves in every day circumstances.
