Belfast City Marathon 2024 · 5 May 2024 ·

Dementia NI was set up by 5 people living with dementia. They knew that raising awareness and challenging the stigma of dementia was vital in empowering them, and others, to live well with their diagnosis. Dementia NI drive's positive change , your support makes that possible. Thank you.

Story

Sadly like so many people, our family has experienced the pain of watching a loved one suffer the brutal illness of dementia.

Nanny is currently 83 and was diagnosed with dementia when she was only 69, I was 6. It is heartbreaking that her grandparent relationship was torn away from her so young with so many years still ahead.

Nanny before her diagnosis was joyous, hard working and humorous to be around and still is with her glimmer of her smile shining through.

Dementia NI is a local charity supporting people living with dementia. People with dementia taking action and improving the lives of everyone who has dementia.

In 3 weeks time I’ll run the 2024 Belfast Marathon in hope to raise funds to help further research into the dementia disease and challenges faced by dementia.

Thank you,

Ceallagh
