Story
In April I am off to Morocco to take part in Marathon des Sables. 250km (150 miles) across the Sahara desert over 6 days. I have been training for this since July 2023 and was not entirely sure who I wanted to raise funds for. I needed it to matter if I was to, and I had to truly connect with the purpose of the Charity.
Tragically, a week ago, my son lost a friend on the football pitch due to cardiac arrest. His friend was 17 years old. Beyond comprehension, heart breaking and so very soul destroying. I do not know the family of the young man who has passed away, nor did I ever meet him. Still, the impact of this on me as a mum, and as a mum of a child who takes part in high level sport, has been profound, and I want to raise awareness of an amazing Charity that supports and aims to prevent such tragedies - CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young). By supporting this Charity, you will be giving money towards screening for the young, awareness about screening and so much more.
---------------------------------------
Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions.
With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young.
By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions.
