Story

Hi,

This year, I'm joining colleagues from CEF to tackle the Total Warrior Northern Run. It's a significant challenge, one that's pushed me well outside my comfort zone – I've lost 55lbs since last August getting ready for it. There's a very personal reason motivating me, and why my colleagues have chosen to support this cause alongside me.

Last August my sister gave birth to twin boys. Tragically, Oscar passed away. His brother, Harrison, was born very early at 26 weeks and was diagnosed with severe chronic lung disease (Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia). His future became incredibly uncertain. At just three months old, needing constant oxygen, the outlook was poor, and my family focused on making memories, unsure how much time we might have, enjoying an early "Christmas day"

During this extremely difficult period, Acorns Children's Hospice provided essential support. They helped us create memories, offered 'stay and play' days which gave valuable respite, and sent outreach nurses to assist with Harrison's complex care at home. Their practical help made a real difference for Harrison, my sister and our family.

Harrison continues to fight every day, though his condition means his future is still unknown, and Acorns' support remains important for the family.

Seeing the impact Acorns had first-hand is why this cause matters so much. My colleagues at CEF, many of whom completed Total Warrior a few years back for a different charity, heard about Harrison and decided to focus this year's team effort on raising funds for Acorns. Their encouragement has been a major factor in getting me involved and prepared for this. I appreciate being part of team CEF, with people from across the country willing to take on this demanding event together for this reason.

Our goal is to raise as much money as possible for Acorns Children's Hospice in Harrison's name. We want to help them continue providing their crucial support to other families facing life-limiting conditions.

Please consider sponsoring our team. Any contribution will directly help Acorns offer care and support when it's needed most. Thank you for supporting me, Harrison and team CEF.
