Story
This April, I’m back running my favourite event.
After twenty years in the London Marathon wilderness, I'm taking on the London Marathon again!
I’m a bit older, and maybe a little bit wiser, so this time I won’t be running backwards, dressed as a superhero, in my wife's saree, or with a baby in a sling... I will simply be running to fundraise for the Race Equality Foundation, which is a charity close to my heart.
Race Equality Foundation is a national charity tackling race inequality in public services to improve the lives of Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities.
The Race Equality Foundation believes that everyone should be provided with the opportunities to flourish. Established nearly 40 years ago, the charity undertakes research, shares best practice and develops good practice through programmes like its Strengthening Families parenting programme. They work with national and local partners from community, voluntary, statutory and social enterprise sectors to advance equality and impact change.
This charity delivers the best parenting programme ever in my opinion - the Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities programme - which not only promotes equality but actually changes lives for the better. I should know, I was part of the first pilot parenting programme and adapted a programme specifically for fathers to enhance their family relationships.
I am also raising awareness with my marathon effort, of The Black Food Fund, a new organisation focused on providing grants to local food systems that improve health and food equity in Lambeth and Southwark, in south London.
I want to raise as much money and awareness as possible for these amazing charities. Please donate to the Race Equality Foundation and support their vital work.
