Story
Centerview will be running in the Royal Parks Half Marathon 2024 to raise awareness and funds for Refuge, a UK based charity that supports women and children experiencing domestic abuse, which Amber has also supported for many years. Refuge is the country's largest single provider of specialist domestic and gender-based violence services. On any given day Refuge support thousands of survivors, helping them to overcome the physical, emotional, financial and logistical impacts of abuse and rebuild their lives.
In England and Wales, 1 in 4 women experience domestic abuse at some point in their lifetime and 2 women a week are killed by a current or former partner. Refuge launched the first safe house for women and their children in 1971. In the last 50 years, Refuge’s services have grown to also support women experiencing physical violence, tech abuse, economic abuse, sexual abuse coercive control, psychological abuse, and post-separation abuse. Refuge ran the National Domestic Abuse Helpline in partnership with Women's Aid between 2003 and 2019, and has been running the Helpline as the sole provider since 1 November 2019.
