Story
On Monday 1st December, the Central team will take on an incredible challenge at Alexander Stadium, Birmingham:
170,000 steps. 340 laps. One powerful message.
Our team – Justin Willis, Pete Ibbotson, Tom Rigby, Vicky Harmer, Sally Williams, George Bragg, and Tracy Brooks – are coming together to raise money and shine a light on the amazing work Shelter does every single day.
Why 170,000? Because new government figures reveal that more than 170,000 children in England are homeless and living in temporary accommodation – a shocking 12% increase in just one year, and the ninth consecutive record since December 2022.
This includes Christmas night. That’s not okay.
Our walk symbolises the relentless, day-after-day struggle families face to find a safe place to call home. Every lap is a reminder that no child should wake up without a home – especially at Christmas.
Please donate whatever you can. Every step we take is powered by your support, and every pound brings us closer to a future where no child is homeless.
Thank you for standing with us. Together, we can make a difference.
