Marking Migrant Help’s 60th anniversary.

Story

Can you support our crisis fund, which provides vital supplies and basic provisions for some of the most vulnerable people we support? Something as simple as a warm coat, clean clothes and essential baby items can feel like a lifeline for someone who has been through trauma and displacement before reaching the UK.

Until the end of February 2024, we aim to move a distance of 60km to mark Migrant Help's 60th anniversary which we celebrated in 2023. We can move in any way that is comfortable: walking, cycling, running or hiking inside or outside. To be accountable, we will record our movement on an app!

We are looking to fundraise £882 which represents 882 hour journey between Dover and Zaatari Refugee Camp in Jordan by foot. It is the world's largest refugee camp for Syrian refugees currently hosting over 80,000 refugees.

Donations have been used for the following:

- We were able to provide clothes, shoes and other necessities for those in need, through our Crisis Fund, and general donations. During 2023 we distributed £10k worth of charity shop gift cards that clients across all our services can use in charity high street stores. This enables them to choose for themselves the items that they need, which at the same time also supports the charity shops used.

- We have distributed approx. £15k of support, through our Neil Wildman Fund, for children, young people and families.

- Access to opportunities and activities for our clients, as offered by partners and other organisations through our Community Integration Fund, which helps cover some of the costs to help them take part.

- Regionally, each team, across all services, has an annual Welfare Pot for emergency situations.
