Story

I am participating in the London Marathon 2025 on April 27th to raise funds for the Animal Rights Fund in Turkey. My goal is to raise £1,000 to support grassroots shelters and improve living conditions for strays in Türkiye. Your contribution will directly impact the lives of countless animals in need.

In July 2024, Türkiye’s Animal Protection Law changed drastically, requiring all strays to be housed in shelters, and ending the “collect, neuter, vaccinate, and return” practice. Under the new law, stray dogs that pose a threat to human or animal life, have a contagious disease, or belong to banned breeds can potentially be put down under veterinary supervision. Municipalities have until December 31, 2028, to build shelters and improve conditions. With only 105,000 shelter spaces available for an estimated 4 million stray dogs, the challenge is overwhelming, putting countless lives at risk. Turkey Mozaik Foundation's Animal Rights Fund will support grassroots shelters, promote local giving, and facilitate knowledge sharing to improve living conditions for strays and ensure better care.
