Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

This is Dave Jones, just one of many healthy, strong and YOLO individuals now affected by MND.

Your donation, will go towards vital MND research and campaigning for affected families like Dave's, which means a lot.

What is Motor Neurone Disease (MND)

MND, also known as Amyotrophic/Primary Lateral Sclerosis (ALS/PLS in many countries - think ice bucket challenge), which is a progressive neurological condition that affects the motor neurons — the nerve cells responsible for controlling voluntary muscles.

In simplest terms: MND causes the nerves that control movement (walking, speaking, swallowing, and breathing) to stop working properly. Over time, these nerves become damaged and die, leading to muscle weakness, wasting, and eventually paralysis.

Is there a cure?

Unfortunately not, but there are treatments that can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life. The condition is life-shortening, but how long someone lives with it can vary greatly.

The MND Association focus on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. By sponsoring me today, your money will help people like Dave Jones (above) and his family, now affected by Motor Neurone Disease.
