Last April, I watched my sister Linda and nephew take on the marathon, and I was deeply inspired. Linda doesn’t let anything stop her from achieving what she sets her heart on. Despite living with two stage 4 cancers, she fights every single day with courage and determination.

Sue Ryder has been a lifeline for Linda and our family, helping us navigate the challenges of living with cancer while focusing on creating beautiful, lasting memories together.

I worked as a District Nursing Sister in Gloucestershire for over 20 years, I’ve seen first-hand how vital hospice care is. Yet the county has only 16 in-patient hospice beds at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court near Cheltenham. I passionately believe that everyone deserves access to compassionate end-of-life care—whether at home or in a hospice. No one should face death or grief alone.

I’m not a natural runner, and I live with long-term chronic health conditions. But I’m determined to complete the marathon to prove that we are capable of more than we imagine. We can overcome challenges, defy expectations, and achieve great things—regardless of age, labels, or limitations.
