Manchester to Sheffield Cross Peaks Challenge

Sheffield and Manchester Wilderness Medicine Society is raising money for Edale Mountain Rescue Team

Team: Sheffield and Manchester Wilderness Medicine Society (for EMRT)

Manchester to Sheffield Cross_Peaks Challenge 2026 · 1 May 2026

The Edale Mountain Rescue Team (EMRT) is a Registered Charity providing a Search and Rescue Service for the moorland and upland areas of the Peak District National Park. It is staffed entirely by unpaid volunteers and is self funding.

Story

A group of students from Manchester and Sheffield Wilderness Medicine Societies will be setting out to hike from Manchester medical school to Sheffield medical school - over 40 miles over two (very full!) days across the beautiful Peak District we know and love!

We want to raise money for Edale Mountain Rescue who operates in the Peak District National Park that borders both of our medical schools and is one of the busiest Mountain Rescue teams in the country. hey work tirelessly to keep up safe, being there for us all 24/7, 365 days a year if the worst were to happen. They are entirely voluntary organisation and rely on donations and support to ensure their team stays fully equipped, trained, and ready to answer the call whenever it comes.

We would be super grateful for your donations - those that have done this trek before know that it is no easy feat, and for many of us this will be the hardest trek we've ever done!

Please give what you can!
