Challenge Shana · 27 May 2024

The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, we're doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

Thanks you for visiting my Just Giving page. At the start of this year people were fighting cancer. Sadly, in March my Uncle's sister Laraine Long (nee Eakin) lost her fight to cancer.

The Challenge

People fighting cancer face many challenges and have rational fears. With this in mind I began thinking about my own fears which are irrational. As a mental health practitioner I encourage children to face their fears so I thought I should follow my own advice which led to me doing 'Challenge Shana'.

This will involve me doing a challenge a month until my birthday next year, May 2024. These will be either physical challenges or based on my own irrational fears (I.e. animals that fly, heights and open water). My first challenge will take place in June and will be a zipline over Penrhyn Quarry, being face down and reaching speeds upto 100mph.

I am open to suggestions of challenges. These challenges will be self funded so all money goes towards charity.

The charity

As I am doing this in memory of Laraine my Auntie and Uncle chose Macmillan as the cancer charity. They decided on Macmillan because they offer physical, financial and emotional support to those diagnosed with cancer and their family. ,

Thank you for any donations
